Description

“History of the yerbas and plants, taken from Dioscoride Anazarbeo and other famous authors, with the Greek, Latin and Spanish names by Juan Xarava”, Antwerp, 1557.

History of Herbs and Plants taken from Dioscorides Anarzabeo, by Juan de Jaraba. Interesting and beautiful facsimile edition made by the publishing house Siloé in 2005 of a work that connects with the numerous paramedical bibliography of a particularly rich time in these matters. The original work, De historia stirpium, by the German Leonhart Fuchs, soon featured numerous translations and adaptations in an environment in which the great Flemish publishers rivaled in the popular language dissemination of the great scientific treatises. Juan de Jaraba was in his day who adapted and published this work in Spanish in 1557.

Limited edition of 898 copies, numbered and certified by the Official College of Pharmacists of Burgos. It consists of 2 books: the facsimile, bound in dry worked skin, nerves, tejuelo, format 12 x 16.5 cm, 540 pages. And another of studies, bound in hard cover, format 16 x 22 cm, 392 pages. Both presented in an open case for better conservation and adapted to their different size, format 15.5 x 22.5 x 7.8 cm.

Edition carried out on the original that is conserved in the Marqués de Valdecilla Historical Library of the Complutense University of Madrid (signature BH FOA 4665).
