The game is to guess the answers to a series of fundamental questions about life, and intends to serve a thousand other possibilities to fight idleness. He is warned of this in the prologue and the reader anticipates that the answers are pure jokes or nonsense. The book passed, however, the first Spanish Index of Forbidden Books, 1559.
