Facsimile made in 1998 by the Austrian publishing house Adeva and co-edited in the Spanish version by Ars Millenii of the original codex of 1446, Le Pas de Saumur, preserved in the National Library of Russia, codex documentary Br. F. XIV, no. 4.
Facsimile with the beautiful binding made by the publishing company Siloé, made in brown leather on wood, decorated in dry and with 5 ribs, format 28.2 x 36.4 cm. 100 pages.
Book study in Spanish realized in 2010 by the publishing house Siloé, with the studies to the work and the transcription of the original text in medieval French. The publisher did not include a translation of the texts into Spanish. Paperback illustrated with flaps. Format 16 x 23.2 cm, 172 pages.
One of the most valuable manuscripts of the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg is a tourney book for René d’Anjou. This 15th-century manuscript contains the only known version of the poetic description of the fair, or tournament of knights, which was held in 1446 in Saumur.
Of great historical value are also contained in the codex 91 illustrations with a great attention to detail. These representations masterfully executed are due to the original drawings lost of Barthélemy d’Eyck, a great painter, that worked during a time for the French Court.
The St. Petersburg manuscript is the only historical testimony of the magnificent knights of the festival of Saumur. It has a high historical and literary value of the fifteenth century for the students of medieval history, literature and culture in general, and especially also for medieval heraldry.
The manuscript is a significant and graphic document of the history of the games of chivalric struggle of the late Middle Ages. The author of the text presents the organization and ceremonial of the joust (a kind of cavalry combat game, in which men are allowed to compete in pairs against each other), actors and combatants, in which Describes the equipment of the knights-especially their crest-harnesses and the equipment of the own horses of battle. But not only that, it also strives to show the contents of the court-chivalric culture in all its meaning.
