Jean de La Fontaine (1621-1695) published his first collection of Moral Fables in 1668, and he met a dazzling success. In total he composed twelve books of fables which he published between 1668 and 1694. Through them he offered his own vision of French society, ironic, bourgeois and somewhat skeptical; His intention was to create a small microcosm: “A great comedy in a hundred different acts / whose stage is the Universe”.
