Extraordinary and beautiful facsimile edition made in 2012 of the Leber 146 manuscript of the Municipal Library of Rouen (France), the Life of the Virgin Mary, masterpiece of the library of Francisco I. Splendid codex of the XVI century (dated c.1548) in its entirety miniado with illuminations to full page, without margins, turning it into a small (but large and spectacular) pictorial museum of the French Renaissance. The grandeur of the pages of this codex indicates, without any doubt, that it was made for a great monarch, Francisco I, considered the emblematic monarch of the French Renaissance. His reign allowed an important development of arts and letters in France.
The artist who carried out this ambitious project wanted to show in several of its pages to whom it was addressed. Proof of this is the miniature in which a portrait of the monarch appears, as well as that of the author on his knees presenting the book to his king. In this same miniature is included a dedication inscribed in gold letters. A new dedication will appear in the second folio and, for the third time, at the end of the book.
In several of the miniatures of this beautiful codex, the fleur-de-lis appears, as well as the coat of arms and the emblem of the monarch that is, as is well known, a salamander in a brazier.
However, given the complexity and richness of its pages, this work could not be completed under the reign of Francisco I and it was in 1548 when this work saw the light, being Enrique II king of France.

The artist conforms to the canons of the time in the execution of the miniatures. The real magnificence of this work is again evident in the treatment that the author gives curtains, tablecloths, canopies … making many of the scenarios that accompany the figure of the Virgin recreate authentic palatial environments.
Each of its 46 pages is shown as a unicum within the panorama of French art of the central years of the sixteenth century, both for its originality and decorative exuberance as for the peculiar style of its scenes.
The Life of the Virgin Mary is revealed as a very interesting example of the end of the French model that exemplifies, like few others, the diffusion of the Fontainebleau models in French art with all its load of fantasy and imagination.
The facsimile edition of La Vida de la Virgen María was made in a single edition limited to 595 copies and numbered by notarial deed.
Facsimile in red leather, curdled loin, stamped in gold, format 25.5 x 33.5 cm. 58 pages, of which 46 are fully and extraordinarily illuminated.
The complementary study book, made by specialists in the field, also contains the translation of the texts into Spanish. Bound in hard cover fabric with dust jacket illustrated in color, guide tape, published in 2014, format 25 x 32 cm. 100 color pages.
Both are presented in a box-case, flat back, in black leather stamped in gold, format 29 x 37.5 x 5.5 cm.
