Los Nuevos Caprichos de Goya is a deluxe edition of 32 unpublished engravings, with an introduction by José A. Calvo and a historical study by Luis Montañés. Limited to 1,000 copies presented in a branch in a gold-stamped silk case-box with the title on the cover and spine, format 25 x 34 x 4 cm, and inside a box with 28 numbered pages of text plus 32 booklets with annotated drawings.
“Los Nuevos Caprichos”, 32 new prints that were not printed during Goya’s lifetime and that the publisher Guillermo Blázquez published in 1980 (together with Heliodoro, Arte y Bibliofilia) and in 1995 with the Madrid City Council (it is printed on the which corresponds to our copy), both completely sold out and discontinued.
A little known edition of Goya’s unpublished drawings reproduced from the edition made by Paul Lafond in Paris in 1907 entitled “Noveaux caprices de Goya”. With this copy you can have the entire collection of engravings that Goya made between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, grouped into his four series: La Tauromaquia, Los Desastres de la Guerra, Los Nonparates (or Proverbios) and Los Caprichos.
These unpublished prints during Goya’s lifetime were made by the master during his time in Bordeaux, between 1824 and 1828, the year of his death.
