World Heritage in Spain. From the “Great Multimedia Themes” collection. Text and photos by Juan Antonio Fernández Durán. 1997 edition.
Bound in illustrated paperback, format 14.7 x 20 cm. 192 pages illustrated with full color photographs of the 21 sites and monuments declared World Heritage Sites in the Kingdom of Spain up to the year 1997 (see the photo with the index).
In 1972, the General Conference of UNESCO approved the International Convention defining the characteristics of the sites that must appear on the List of Cultural and Natural Heritage, as well as the measures that must be taken for their protection. In 1997 there were 469 sites included in the World Heritage List. 350 are cultural sites, 102 natural and 17 mixed, belonging to 104 countries. Those corresponding to Spain were 21 (there are currently a few more) which, together with France and India, represented the highest number for a single state, and it is these 21 privileged places in Spain that are shown in this exciting work.
